At Style & Structure, we take pride in our exceptional team members who bring their expertise, passion, and dedication to every project. Today, we're excited to introduce you to Jason, our talented estimator who plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of our construction endeavors.
Jason's Journey: From Plumbing to Estimating
Born into a military family, Jason's childhood was marked by frequent moves as his father served in the Air Force. Despite the constant transitions, this nomadic lifestyle allowed Jason to experience different places and ultimately choose where he wanted to settle and raise his own family. When his father retired in Omaha, Nebraska, the family put down roots, and Jason called Omaha home until relocating north in 2016.
With a wealth of experience spanning 16 years as a Journeyman Plumber, Jason's career journey has been nothing short of remarkable. Despite a shoulder injury that prevented him from continuing the physical demands of plumbing, his love for construction remained unwavering. Determined to find his way back into the industry he cherished, Jason pursued a degree in Healthcare IT, which allowed him to work as a Data Specialist for seven years. However, the call of construction proved too strong to resist, and Jason ultimately made the decision to return to his true passion as an estimator.
In his current role at Style & Structure, Jason's main responsibilities involve preparing detailed estimates and creating comprehensive proposals. His attention to detail and commitment to accuracy ensure that every project is meticulously planned and executed to perfection.
A Life Filled with Passions, Pursuits, and Incredible Stories
When he's not immersed in his work, Jason finds joy in a variety of interests and hobbies. During the winter months, he loves to hit the trails for some exhilarating snowmobiling adventures. Summer weekends are dedicated to supporting his children's sports activities, where you'll often find Jason lending a hand as a first base coach or assisting with warm-ups. He's also an avid volunteer, feeling strongly about contributing to organizations that support cancer research and provide support for families affected by the disease – a cause close to his heart as a cancer survivor himself.
Jason's life is filled with incredible stories and experiences. One particularly memorable adventure involved flying to San Diego to helo out his homesick sister. She picked him up at the airport, with her car packed with all her belongings. She was missing home and Jason got on the first flight out, so she wouldn't have to make the journey home alone. Driving straight through to Omaha, Nebraska – a journey that required incredible stamina, caffeine, and skilled driving through snowy mountain passes. It just shows that Jason will go to lengths to do anything for his family.
A Family Man at Heart
At the core of Jason's life is his family, who bring him immense joy and fulfillment. He has three children – Trevor (25), Kacie (11), and Owen (9). Jason met his wife, Sarah, at a KC Royals game (which inspired their daughter's name, Kacie), and the two have been inseparable ever since. Sarah is an amazing person who has dedicated her professional life to being a high school teacher in River Falls, Wisconsin.
Jason cherishes quality time with his loved ones, whether it's attending his children's sporting events, taking weekend getaways to nearby cities like Duluth, Green Bay, or the Dells, or engaging in fun family traditions like their annual Thanksgiving gathering in Nebraska, filled with board games and laughter. He and Sarah also enjoy hosting game nights and bonfires with their amazing neighbors at their basement pub, Jarah's (Jason and Sarah's names together).
A Collaborative Spirit and Commitment to Excellence
What initially attracted Jason to Style & Structure was the company's collaborative nature, which aligns perfectly with his own values and approach to work. As an estimator, his role is vital in contributing to the overall mission of the company, and he takes great pride in his ability to ensure accurate and detailed estimates.
Jason's work style is task-oriented, with a constant drive for efficiency and improvement. His core values of integrity, collaboration, and innovation guide him professionally, and he firmly believes in leading by example and fostering open communication within his team.
Looking ahead, Jason is excited about streamlining the estimating process at Style & Structure and continuing to grow his expertise by pursuing an ASPE (American Society of Professional Estimators) certificate. In addition to his professional goals, Jason is working towards building a detached garage at his home, further exemplifying his passion for construction and home improvement projects.
With his diverse background, unwavering commitment, zest for life, and incredible stories to share, Jason is an invaluable asset to the Style & Structure team. We're thrilled to have him on board, and we look forward to witnessing his continued success and contributions to our company's growth and success.
